Install and dismantle exhibition elements

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to install and dismantle the physical elements of an exhibition. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of endorsement.

Application

Exhibitions take place in many different contexts and environments across both businesses and the community. This unit allows for broad application and work may be undertaken by exhibition venue staff or by independent exhibition contractors. Exhibitions may be temporary or permanent in nature. Work is undertaken under general guidance and supervision, and with established exhibition plans and procedures.

Install/dismantle exhibition elements

3.1

Install/dismantle exhibition elements in accordance with exhibition requirements, available floor plans and safety/security requirements

Pack, unpack, move and handle physical elements in accordance with agreed plans and within scope of individual responsibility

3.3

Use safe manual handling techniques throughout installation/dismantling to avoid injury or damage

3.4

Respect the integrity of physical elements, take prompt action in the event of accidents and accurately document as required

Clear and clean work areas in accordance with organisational procedures, safety and environmental requirements

Return elements safely to appropriate locations in accordance with exhibition documentation and plans

access to plans and other exhibition documentation

access to physical exhibition elements.

Method of assessment

A range of assessment methods should be used to assess practical skills and knowledge. The following examples are appropriate for this unit:

direct questioning combined with review of portfolios of evidence and third party workplace reports of on-the-job performance by the candidate

direct observation of the candidate installing/dismantling physical elements

oral or written questioning to assess knowledge of different types of exhibition, safety issues

analysis of problem-solving exercises undertaken by the candidate to assess ability to respond to different operational situations and contexts.
